So this story is all over the news here locally. A local Jiffy Lube has been completely shut down for several days costing who knows how much money while the corporate office investigates. The more I read about it the more I get ticked off at the guy this happened to.
Long story short, some guy of middle eastern descent apparently goes in to get his oil changed. He hears the tech making fun of his car. Now, I'm smart enough to know that crap like that probably happens every day. But in this case, the customer heard it and decided he wanted to take his car elsewhere. Kind of dumb to me, but it's his money and his car. At that point, things go south and the tech ends up shouting racial slurs at him. Completely unacceptable. Tech deserves to lose his job. No question about it. But this grown man describes himself as "appalled and nearly in tears." Come on. This is ridiculous. His fiancee is hurt that anyone would insult him since he's educated and a "pillar of the community" Ugh.
So he calls the store after he gets home and asks for a manager. Perfectly reasonable action. Manager tells him to come back and they can discuss it. Perfectly reasonable again. Yet this guy makes a point of saying he's "terrified for his life". When he comes back in things go south and the employee in question actually shoves him (according to his story anyway). He claims that he literally ran from the store terrified for his life. Then, rather than call up Jiffy Lube management, or the cops, or both he plasters the thing all over Facebook along with a rant about how great he is and how he doesn't deserve this kind of treatment and is now apparently scarred because of it.
Am I the only one who thinks this is a gigantic overreaction on this guys part? His entire letter (linked below, contains censored profanity so you were warned) just reeks of pure drama queen. The guy got bad customer service. No question. The guy has every right to complain to Jiffy Lube and the guy who made the comments should be fired. But the whole incident is just bathed in so much drama it's ridiculous and it's gone viral here locally. Am I the only one who thinks this guy majorly overreacted? From what I'm hearing the tech involved has lost his job (as he should've), the manager of the store may have lost his job as well and the customer here posted the phone number, contact information, addresses, etc.... for the employee who allegedly did this as well as for the employees relatives. Sadly some of the information was inaccurate and some old lady here is now getting harassing phone calls but this customer has no interest in changing the information so the calls continue.
