Is this nothing, or the worst thing?

I got my new Panda Pixel 2 xl yesterday. Love it, but. . . about 5 hours in the screen started doing funny things. about 1 out of every three times i'd set it to the notification/black screen, the screen would start blinking this red/white spasm thing. It would stop when I opened it back up.

Then, later last night, I got a weird bulge on the upper left-hand side of the screen, and from that bulge, a black shadow strip, about an inch thick, showed up on the screen. It was quite dark at first, although I could still see stuff through it. By the time I went to bed, it had faded, and then when I woke up this morning, the strip and the bulge were both gone.

This does not bode particularly well. Should I take it in? Is this a sign of things to come?

Normally I'd say send it back immediately, but since the warranty is pretty great on this phone, I think it's fine if you want to wait and see. Definitely not normal though.
