Is this phone the end-all "future proof" device?

I know technology will never stop, but realistically, how can this phone be outdone? Perfect screen size(to the edge), 1080p, fast quadcore, 2gb ram. Other than a microsd slot, what could possibly be done to improve upon a device like this?

Even the specs of this phone is overkill, so increasing any of those numbers is just insanity. Unless they come out with an overclocked watercooled octo-core with HT, I dont see a need to ever upgrade. The ONLY thing I dont like about this phone is the branding on the front. I love my gnex because it has a completely blank face. But Im sure that can be fixed when they start selling front glass replacements.

In 4 years this phone will be viewed as outdated, just like all the other high end cell phones out right now.

It's unfortunate, but it will happen as newer and faster phones are released.

I know thats what will probably happen... but what can they do? these are phones not super computers. All they can do is just up the speeds, but thats what I mean. Other than unnecessarily bumping cpu speeds, all future phones will be the same thing wrapped in a different package.

It took years, but phone resolution finally got to 1080p, but theres nowhere to go from there. Screen sizes are now at 5"+, so thats done. I could very well be wrong, but I just think that without becoming absurdly unnecessary, cellphones have reached their "spec" max. They will always come out with crap that looks different. But since phones are already sporting 5", 1080p 32/64gb, quad-cores, etc... whats left? These phones are creeping to the specs of my laptop.

Yes but today's phones could only really teleport you a packet at a time and it takes forever to materialize on the space ship. And they're still working out the kinks in the replicator system. :p;)

These phones will get more and more efficient. Down the line, the cpu/gpu cores will be better utilized to do more things like better voice recognition, more intense gaming experience, more sophisticated apps, etc. Then you'll have these processors be more efficient when it comes to utilizing the radios. I fully expect 96+ gb phones next year or so along with 3000+ mAh batteries similar to that of the Droid Maxx on other non-phablets.

once they improve on cameras (41mp cameras for example, shutter speed could be reduced..larger files will increase need for space..32gb will eventually be seen as like the 256mb flash drive that we all thought had a lot of space back in like 2004). batteries will advance..3000maH will seem small...batteries could last days..then you got your next hype coming up...4k video...thatll eat up space like its nothing...technology is amazing. if only we had more to save this planet...dependence on fossil fuels...lol. ok im getting off topic.

they will find new ideas to make you phone look outdated. kkel19 totally agree with you that's why im studding environmental science

lol i majored in environmental science too....studying hard for GREs trying to get back into a env. sci. program.

phone are only getting bigger, better processors, better screen displays and more ram.

i think a 6+ inch screen is over kill for a phone..

other than that the only other thing that will beat this phone and like many others are the features. but needless to say every company has there own features they put on there phones.
