So I got my first bill today. I am signed up for 2gb of data (doubled to 4 for a promotion at no charge) unlimited texts and 400 and then there was one service i opted in on that was 6$. I also receive a 10% discount from the place I work and received notification / verification that the discount has now been applied (a couple weeks ago). So I was expecting my bill to be 96 - 10% so around 86.40. I just looked at my bill and it says 195.17

in the "detailed" page of the bill it lists:

Monthly Access Charges - 143.81
Verizon Wireless' Surcharges and Other Charges & Credits - 40.96
Taxes, Governmental Surcharges & Fees - 10.40

In waiting between emails from them I was hoping maybe the community here could tell me possibilities for what the charges are perhaps a better definition then they describe. I especially am curious about the 40.96 from verizon wireless surcharges

Any help is appreciated, Thanks all

Usually discounts are only applied to the main phone line and not that data but your company might have something special worked out. Probably $30 activation fee for Verizon charges. Also cell phones are post-pay services but you're billed for the service in advance. In your case, you're probably being billed for pro-rated usage in June and pre-billed for future usage in July.

This is what I was kind of thinking but was not aware of the data not being included in the discount because the store I went to didn't do the greatest job explaining things, which is why I ended up going online

Thanks for some helpful insight into my situation

Yeah some get discount on both, some just on the line charges, varies by company.
