Everytime a certain person sends me a text the voicemail icon pops up telling me of an update. also certain programs start up in the running apps section like qik video, amazon mp3. am i just paranoid or have i been hacked?

Welcome to the forums!!!

There's a possibility you got a bug if someone loaded it on your phone, or you downloaded a sketchy app at one time.

Have you downloaded Lookout Mobile Security?

Download Lookout and have it scan your phone, see if anything comes up. If not you might want to try and save your sms messages with SMS backup Pro, and be sure to have all your contacts synced up to your google account. Then do a data / factory reset. It'll be a pain to set everything back up, but you'll know any bugs that were on there are gone.
