Help "ISP" email client

Android 4.4.4 on Samsung Galaxy S4. MetroPCS
I occasionally use the included "isp" email client to check my mail when I'm away from my PC. Since a recent update, it insists upon checking and d/l my isp email without my asking it to do so. It did not used to do that, and I would like it to NOT do that. Any help? TIA
Bill

It might be named something different. When you open the app is there an "info" or "about" under help or settings?

Thank you, but, no. It reveals nothing about itself. And as I said, it does not appear in the Apps list. Its icon is a white envelope, with an "@" in the middle.

I'm thinking I might just abandon it, and get one of the other recommended ones from Play Store. Are there any POP clients you like?

I use a couple. On my phone I have all my email accounts consolidated under the gmail app. You can add additional POP3 and IMAP accounts to it and I like having all my email in one place when I'm no the go. I've been using Mail Droid on my tablet recently which I think I'm liking better than K-9 but others would definitely disagree.

Oh? IDNK that you could add a POP3 account under GMail. Is it pretty straight-forward, and can I choose if & when I want to check for mail?

Oh, and thanks again for your help!

Bearing in mind my 'phone specs A4.4.4 Gal S4 MetroPCS...

Yep, with 4.2 Google started including many of the updates through the play store rather than part of the system so you should be able to get the latest version of the gmail app. Just open gmail and swipe right to get the menu and tap your email listed and then select add account.
