Hi community,

I am need help with my Marshmallow 6.0, whose internal storage I want to extend. When doing so Android still gives me the option to either safe everything to internal or external, but not both of them at the same time. Android also doesn't add up both capacities but only shows the original internal storage.

You're using the 'Storage' menu to view the current physical storage media inside your phone -- the internal storage and the microSD card. Try using a file manager app to instead view storage media capacity. There should be difference in total storage capacity when viewing internal storage plus a card formatted as portable vs. total storage when the card is formatted as internal (a.k.a. adoptable).

That's all normal. Some apps will use sd to store data automatically. Some things will still ask. That's just how it works. You're not physically fusing them together. Android has to keep some things separate so your phone will still operate if you pull that card.

If you use the SD card as exteneded internal storage, the OS will take care of the extended memory in the background. You have no control.

If you select the internal or external storage option, when that specific storage element fills up the OS will then switch over and use the other storage element.
