Issue with Battery Life

Im still a fairly new droid user so I apologize if I'm if this is an obvious answer.

My settings show that my screen display and call standby are the two main things draining my battery. I personally need to have a bright screen and hate the auto brightness feature as its always dark. Then I have no clue what exactly cell standby is or how I can lower it.

Please advise,
Thanks!

Cell standby is the amount of power used by your phones cellular ( cellphone ) radios while in standby mode.

The main ways to lower its usage is to remain in high signal areas and turn off mobile data when not in use.

There are other ways you can help with your screens power use besides just turning it down. Menu -> Settings -> Power Saving, make sure you have Screen Power Saving enabled. This doesn't lower the brightness...I'm honestly not sure what impact it has as I can not tell a difference. I found the Background color one annoying so I do not use it.

Also, using a dark background can help a fair bit.

Remembering to turn off your screen instead of waiting for it to timeout can have a significant impact.

Turning down the "Touch Key Light duration" under display can also help.

"Auto adjust screen tone" in there can help as well, but it can also be annoying.

Even after all of this, you can still count on your giant, high resolution screen to continue to eat a very large chunk of your power. That's just the way of it. However, this also means small improvements on your screens power usage can have a noticeable impact on your actual battery life.
