Help Issue with camera

Every time I go into the camera app and I try to take a picture my phone shuts off completely and I have to take the battery out. I'm not rooted or have any customs ROMs or anything. I also haven't downloaded any new apps. This just started today and the only difference is that earlier this month I installed that security update sprint pushed. Any ideas what can be causing it or what I should do?

You could try clearing data on the camera app. Settings > Applications manager > ALL > Camera > Clear data

OMG thanks so much that worked! I gotta buy u a beer lol. Any idea y that happened in the first place

Well that "Clear Data" is clearing the settings for the camera. Those settings are referred to as "system data" as they belong to a system app (as opposed to a user installed app).

Sometimes between updates / different versions of android, that system data (if even for one little app) can become incompatible and prevents an app (or even sometimes the entire phone) from working.

As to the specifics, there is no way to be sure if it was one simple setting or all those settings conflicted. The main thing is the camera now works and you haven't really lost anything :)

I'm having the same problem. Any solutions for this. Its incredibly annoying for a phone that is almost perfect otherwise.
