Help Issue with performance

I have had the galaxy 6 edge since May. Never experienced any issues with it until the last 3 weeks or so. Every few seconds my phone will freeze up. After about 4-5 seconds it unfreezes and works again. It does it in different apps, messeging, no matter what I'm in really.
My messages are also taking forever to send/receive.
I have not downloaded any new apps; I cleared my caches on all apps. I feel like something is definitely running somewhere that is interfering.

Try clearing cache from recovery. Power off then press volume up, home and power until your phone vibrates, then release power and keep pressing home and volume up. Use the volume keys to navigate to clear/delete/format cache (not sure what it will say exactly but you'll know).
