Root Issue with returning to HTC stock ROM

Hi,

I have a factory unlocked HTC Desire and currently its running a custom rom but i want to revert back to stock rom.

I want to run this on Windows 10:
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed

I have a laptop and pc running Windows 10(basic and pro repsectively)

I can connect using ADB

BUT when i go into fastboot i get the following errors
“The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.”
Or
“One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message.”

I downloaded google drivers and i tried to apply once the device is in fastboot and connected to the usb port. I still get the above error.

I tried different usb ports on the laptop and PC and same error occurs.

Any advice?
