issue with screen, screen doesn't turn off. glitch?

My phone just glitched, not sure why. I was trying to lock the phone with power button. It locked but screen was staying on wothout turning off on the lock screen. Repeated action of pressing power button did not change anything, it was staying on, but locked. Turned out it was caused by 2 text message notifications at notification bar. Once I cleaned it, it got back to normal. Anyone else run into this issue?

I just did a few more tests and it happens sometimes when there are more than couple unread sms notifications. I think different SMS client should fix the issue. It seems like it happens only with stock messenger.

Weird. I don't get that many text messages so I have not experienced this. I'm quite please with the stock msg. app. It has all the features that I had to have a non-oem app for on Gingerbread/android 2. So now I have one less app to install. The only thing it doesn't have that Chomp SMS had (and I wish stock app did) is a sound when the message is sent. But I'm not installing another message app just to get that.

I've actually seen my screen stay on after the timeout was suppose to kick in, by just plugging it in to charge. I've seen other quarky things too.. Like, how a programing running in the background, with the icon in the top display bar running, then all the sudden, its not there. Hanging up the phone, by pushing the big RED END button on the dialpad works... But, man, is it SLOW to respond.

problem with mine was that i used SmsPopup app, and screen would not turn off on its own after it popped. So thats why I had a few messages bunched up in notification bar. GoSms pro fixed the issue.

Thank you for your post, unnamedny. The same thing happened to me, and the problem disappeared when I read the pending SMS following your advice.
