Root Issue with updating the drivers

Finless

Lurker
Trying to root my phone using the Unrevoked method via video. I've downloaded the drivers on my computer and have the reflash package downloaded. When I try to install the drivers I'm told: Best driver for your software is already installed. I can't seem to get it to load the bootloader interface. Just keep getting stuck at this point. When I browse to the file I gert a choice of amd64 or i386. Neither will result in my drivers reading bootloader interface.

I've searched, Ive read. I've watched videos. I can't seem to figure this out

I'm running 2.2 build 3.70.651.1. Using a PC with Windows 7.

So you have the hboot drivers downloaded onto your pc in a place you remember, right?

Plug your phone via usb to your pc, then go to device manager and look for android 1.0 (if yours doesn't say that, don't worry, look for anything w/ android in the title), right click and choose "update drivers". Browse for the hboot drivers you downloaded onto your pc and select them. It shouldn't be any harder than that. If you haven't checked out ROOTING For Dummies + Extra's, check it out. It has a walk through on this process.

I had the same problem when I rooted I wound up having to delete the driver that was picking up my phone (can not remeber if it was hct or not... but if you uninstall said driver it will let you update when you select update driver.. then after just install htc sync to get the driver back on your pc..
