Help Issues with Browser bookmark sync?

nycdroid

Newbie
Curious if others are encountering issues with the browser bookmark sync. It is the only thing that fails on my Google account to sync with the phone. I think this is likely because I have two factor authentication enabled on the account. I know the browser sync is not compatible and it is necessary to enter an application specific password generated by Google.

On desktop Chrome, there is a place to type in the password for Chrome Sync. Unfortunately I don't see where I can do so on the phone. Am I just overlooking something? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm having the same problem on my XOOM, and I've assumed its for the same reason. I haven't found anywhere to enter the password either. Hopefully there is an answer to this for both devices.

Sounds like this is likely a bug then. I'll check to see if it has been reported to Google. Quite unfortunate.

I suppose as a workaround you can disable Two Factor Authentication, allow it to sync, then reenable it. It won't allow the bookmarks to stay in sync, but at least you can get your Chrome bookmarks onto the phone.

I have the same issue, but don't have two factor authorisation enabled... it still wont sync though.

I've gone into chrome disabled it, gone into Google Dashboard and deleted all data and removed account, gone onto phone and cleared cache etc then re-enabled it all but nothing :(

Such a shame :(

Haven't been able to confirm this yet, but it is obvious that an issue exists. I don't feel like going through the trouble of disabling two-factor authentication just to get the bookmarks over to the phone.

Where is the page on Google for reporting various bugs? You used to be able to star them so they can see how many people found them important.

Yep, I saw that after the fact. I don't believe there is a way to delete my submission otherwise I would. Haven't tried the suggested workaround in there, but according to others it works.

1 -- Delete all sync data via the Google Dashboard
2 -- Sign in to Chrome Sync
3 -- During the setup, click Advanced and make sure it only encrypts passwords instead of all data.
4 -- Finish the sync, then attempt to initiate the sync again via your phone.

So, I found a way for it to sync :)

Settings-->Apps-->All-->Browser-->Clear cache
Settings-->Apps-->All-->Browser-->Clear data

Then launch the Browser... all bookmarks now sync'd

I had this issue over last week and these 4 steps worked for me step 3 appears to be Key..

Thanks :adore: nycdroid
