Root Issues with Fission on D2G

Bugly

Android Expert
didn't see these issues, so i thought I'd bounce them off the board to see if there are workarounds:

1. proximity sensor is not working well, wife is having issues with not being able to hang up a call due to the screen still being blank when she pulls it away from her face (problem has been ongoing since stock/new).

2. sms/mms incoming messages say they are from the same contact every time, even though they are from different contacts (new issue with Fission)

3. messages are shown twice (same message, shows up once, gets logged as two, has to be cleared in Handcent and stock message app.)

4. battery life is about the same as a goldfish's memory span

We swapped her out to Fission to relieve problems, but the same stuff happens, plus a few new ones.
Is there a way to adjust sensitivity of the prox sensor?
she has very few apps on the device, nothing other than root (Z4) and Bootstrap that have anything to do with root.
She's not a power user and just needs it to work when she needs it. (We have a grand-daughter due to be delivered on Friday or Saturday and we would really not be happy if we missed that call...lol)
TIA, I know here has to be someone that can figure this out :D

I've had none of these issues save for #3. You must go into the regular SMS app and turn off notifications. That way, only handcent will notify you of messages.

If your proximity sensor doesn't work right on the stock ROM, and she doesn' have a screen protector, it's a bad phone, SBF it back to stock, confirm the issue exists, and get a replacement phone from verizon... probably fix all your issues at once. Just for the record, what do you define as poor battery life? You do know that anyone who gets more than 12 hours of battery life from these phones is doing well, right?

Yes, I am aware that battery life is dim on these, but her last device (BB storm) was way better at staying charged up.
Will try the messaging trick, I was sure I had already done that, but will confirm.
She does have a screen protector, that may be the issue.
Thanks to all.

BTW, My X gets unplugged from the charger at 8:00 AM and when i plug it back in at 11:00PM, it usually still has at least 70%, somehow, I think it's possible for some kind of adjustment there to make a D2G last longer, when its bigger brother can do it. JMHO, of course...

yes, it's possible, but not the norm. I seem to be one of the few that ekes out a decent battery life, the forums are littered with posts of people who get 12 hours or less. The biggest thing I can recommend you try is downloading SetCPU and using it underclock the CPU when the screen is off, I think that was the biggest contributor to my excellent battery life. Also, the X is in no way the bigger brother to the D2G, except in physical (and screen) size. The D2 has a faster processor, and two radios. The faster processor definitely results in noticeably decreased battery life, even compared to the D2, which is an "almost identical" phone.

I was, in fact, referring to the physical size. I'm fully aware it has a much faster processor (kinda jealous, wish mine was a 1.2....).
Gonna try the extended battery on it and also undervolting.
Two radios, eh? Wonder what it would take to tie them together to get 6G? hmmmmm?!?!
Don't flame me on that, I know that won't work, but it WOULD be cool!
