Help Issues with SD micro card, tethering, internet access

Hi there,

I have a couple of issues with my Galaxy S, Model GT-I9000T. Firmware 2.3.3, Gingerbread.DVJV6.
The other day the battery ran out enough that it turned the phone off (this has happened before with no dramas) when I tried turning it on I got the start-up screen (the big 'S' for Samsung) and the finger touching the screen, then the standby screen. It kept doing this. I tried turning it off, removing the battery and reinstalling it but it kept going in that loop. After a while I noticed it seemed to get stuck doing the SD card check (can't remember the words used but it showed the pic of the SD card with some symbol on top of it in the top left of the panel where the battery life is shown). I decided to remove the separate SD Micro card and the phone started up fine.
Now I am unable to access the internet through the phone and when I tether my phone to my laptop the internet is still not accessible. All other features of the phone appear to be fine.
Does anyone know a fix or what the issue is?

Hello Julie.

Wow. That's an old device by 2013 standards. If that's the original battery, I'd hazzard to say that you've gotten your money's worth out of it, but now it's failing and the machine is rebelling, as the system cannot acquire enough electrons to do their job, even for booting the poor thing.

The ways that an Android device behave with a weakened battery are seldom exactly the same, so the symptoms you describe may not match those of others with the same battery issue.

The remedy of course, is a nice new battery. Hopefully your boot loader etc is not damaged (very unlikely, but I've seen it posted here and there), and that once a good full charge is acquired on a new battery, all will be well.
