Issues With Stock E-Mail App

There are two quirks with the stock e-mail app that are a bid discouraging to me coming from the HTC e-mail apps (Evo 4G/Evo 3D).

The first is, I don't see an option to disable "Ask Before Deleting". I understand the benefit of making sure that you intend to delete e-mails, but I'd like to forego this step. When I select an e-mail (or e-mails) and click delete, make them be gone without a follow-up query.

The second is multi-faceted and has to do with notifications:
a) I have the e-mail app in my quick-launch on the lock-screen, but it does not display the number of e-mails (like it does on the home-screen).

b) When I get a notification for an e-mail, it shows up in the notification bar and notification menu. That's fine, but if I check the e-mail by either launching the app from the lock-screen or clicking the app elsewhere, that notification stays there. I have to go clear the notifications separately.

On my Evo 3D, if I had 2 e-mails come in, the lock-screen icon would show "2" and I'd have a notification in the bar. I could launch the e-mail app from the lock-screen and the notification in the bar would go away. As it stands, that is an extra (unnecessary) step with this phone.

I assume my solution is to find another e-mail app, which is a bummer as I always tended to have a smoother experience with the stock app. I'm posting this in hopes of either finding a setting that I overlooked or a recommendation on a good e-mail app.

Open Email app. Settings > General Preferences > Confirm deletions. Uncheck.

Not there.

Settings > General Preferences gives me the following options:

Display after deleting messages

Message preview line

Email title

Quick responses

I didn't think it would matter, but perhaps it does. I'm on a Sprint phone.

I don't have that option in the settings either, but if I touch the trash can icon it deletes the email with no conformation message.

I have the Australian delivered 16 gb white model.

This is what the VZW looks like.

I'm shocked at how things like this are different among carriers. Perhaps not Samsung's fault, but it reflects poorly on the device.

I just read that some carriers have an option to turn off the shutter sound on the camera. Why on earth would these be omitted on some phones? Just give the user the damn option.

Here is mine:
