Help Issues With The New 5.0.1 Updates

SteveLNew

Lurker
I know I can't be the only one who is having complaints about the new 5.0.1 update for android.

So far I have 2 complaints
1) I hate how they went to a circle, square, and a triangle for the new button features. I feel as though we are going backwards and not forward. Why did they choose to go that way... Anyone know?

2) Ever since I update on Tuesday... My 32gig sd card won't read on my phone? Anyone else having this kind of issue?

Are there other issues I should be on the look for?
Are there fixes out there?

Hi @SteveLNew and welcome to Android Forums :)

I saw in your Introduction thread that your device is a G3, so I moved this thread into the LG G3 subforum so you can connect with and get input from fellow G3 owners. :thumbsupdroid:

You may want to also take a look around to see if anyone else has posted about your specific issues.

Good luck! :)

I can't complain as the update isn't available yet from my carrier (vzw).

Did you try removing and reinserting your sd card? It may not be initializing.

Yes... I tried that a few times.
I'm probably going to take it to Sprint today sometime.
Thanks for the reply though.

I hate the update. My phone was streamlined before, now it's ridiculous and in my face. I hate the notifications, the buttons, pretty much everything looks worse than before. And they took away quiet time mode - WHY? UGH

I am right there with you, does anyone know how to undo an update? I would love to know because this update is garbage!

I could take it or leave it. I was mostly hoping for improved battery life, but I haven't noticed any difference. What I really don't like now is the new Rolodex-style 'Running Apps' screen (or whatever you call it - the one you get when you push the square). It's much less intuitive and difficult to see what all is running, and also more of a pain to close apps out.

EXACT SAME ISSUE!. From couple of nights ago happening to me too, right after the updates. Right now, whenever i put on it it says mounted and then quickly removes it by itself. I have done factory reset option available on the phone which apparently doesn't erase the IOS upgrade data since it upgraded itself automatickly before completely erasing apps and data.

Besides that, i've also formatted fully to exfat my Samsung EVO 64 gb sd xc just to be sure if there were corrupted file on not. Checked with chkdsk list from windows and there were no errors.
I have sacrificed all my apps, all my data from sd thinking it was viruses or else since the phone is new and i've never dropped it or put it in stress so don't think was the sd pins or whatever.
So i have no idea on what to do.

Well then I guess there is a plus side to Verizon dragging this out . . . .

Completely agree. It's what I've been arguing for those that have been wanting it right now. Would you rather have a rushed, buggy OTA that breaks something important or would you rather wait and get something that has most of the nasty bugs squashed? I'll take the latter.

5.0.1 is good on my G3 so far, I'm on Bell in Canada. One thing is certain, battery life is even better. It's at 100% in the morning then about 65-70% 9 hours later, since the update a few days ago it's at 80-85%.
