Root Issues with WiFi Tether - and other Tether Utilities...

Currently using WiFi Tether - I am having a great deal of trouble setting up a wifi tether and keeping it running... It states in the logs that Loading the WiFi Driver failed. It seems to be the only issue. The other side of the coin seems that it might have something to do with the root because when it attempts to access the root privleges, it states that it failed. I also tried using PDAnet + FoxFi full version. It seems that while it broadcasts a wifi signal, the 3g does not want to route through... It seems that the stock 3g mobile hotspot connection sees that I am attempting a hotspot. Maybe it has something to do with why I am not recieving any data through the connection...

you most likely can't turn on the WiFi regularly as well. If that is true, then this fix will work.

the problem you are experiencing is the one most are, after rooting using the WiFi exploit method, by TommyTopDrive and beta tested by me. There are one (maybe two) of two things wrong.
1.)If you are using the 2ed version ROM from Monkeytools, it does not have the proper permissions. You need to set the permissions to rwxrwxrwx. This can be done in es file explorer. long press properties. you can also view the permissions if you turn the detail view setting on.
2.)If you only rooted, no ROM change, then you need to put the original init.qcom.sdio.sh file back. If you do not have a backup, I have one that I posted in the "m130 rooted!" form thread. again, double-check the permissions.
hope this helps,

What exactly is "it" that doesn't have the proper permissions? Are you referring to the init.qcom.sdio.sh file?

I have this problem too with wifi tether just totally cutting off 3g data until I reboot. The phone does put out a wifi signal and allow me to connect another device to it, but of course it doesn't do any good.

I am rooted by following your youtube video, thanks again by the way; and I did install the blue rom. And my init.qcom.sdio.sh permissions are rwxrwxrwx.

yes "it" is the init.qcom.sdio.sh file. i am not sure of your problem, but i use wifi tether as well. if you want to make a wifi network, you have to change the setup method to ad-hoc. that way the anoying stock tether does not come up.

I am a newb at this so please explain how to setup an ad-hoc and where I would set this up.

Thanks for all your help and work on rooting the M130.

in the wifi tether app (that you downloaded from the play store), there is a setting, i believe it is called setup-method. click it, and change it to ad-hoc.
hope this helps!
