Help it got BRICKED!

htc8p

Newbie
My touchpad 4 days in cm10. Rebooted it took so long felt like it hanged so i pressed the power button it turned off

next morning it is a brick!

Heeeeelllp

Pressing power + the home button only for up to 30 seconds should reboot your touchpad. You only press the volume up button when you want to run ACMEInstaller3. That is why you got the large white USB symbol.

i pressed home+power button got it working again. im feeling traumatized and shaking now.

I wouldn't panic yet, It has happened to me on two different ones after installing CM9. For me once it rebooted during charging and the other was rebooting after unplugging the charger. The first time my heart skipped a beat too.

Sounds to me like you guys should drink some warm milk, put down the TP's and sit in front of the TV for a few hours. You're getting to excited by Android. :D

I don't think I can yet. With tablet 17 coming tomorrow and a guy paying me to make a ROM for him I will have to endure the shakes a little longer.

I think the excitement has to do with something totally different that they can't see on their TouchPad.(with emphasis on Touch):D

Warm milk won't cure that!

Anyway, gentlemen. Looks like our friend htc8p just had his system freeze. Not to worry my friend. This can just happen from time to time. Your TP s not bricked. Anytime things freeze up on you set it aside for a few minutes. If it doesnt become responsive. Press power plus home to force a reboot.

Warm milk is optional.

ahem....now it is really bricked....and i dont need warm milk now.

im just plain whatever

it will not charge, i hold power + home = plug icon
i plug in charger nothing happens

i disassemble and reassemble charger
nothing happens

i hold power+home+vol up for 40 sec
no usb icon

what do i do now?

i am in the process of downloading ubuntu for desktop. do not know what the hell im doing. i think this is serious territory now. no simple cyanogen mod 10 piece of cake

While you are waiting try a different charger and cable if you have access to one, but it must be 5V 2A. I have used a Nook HD charger and an Excite 10 before. There are a couple of similar specs Android tablets that have a similar issues (Le Pan, Kindle Fire, Insignia)and it can indicate the charger is not functioning correctly. Also I have had to hold the power+home for up to 2 minutes while plugged in to power before the tablet finally powered back up, if you haven't give it a try.

Hi new development.

...it got fixed by itself. i just plugged it in after waiting a few hours then i charged!

upon further investigation. i think there is something wrong with the charging.

even in webos...even in usb plug to computer...even in cm10...all not charging.

could this be the charger issue you are talking about?

What are you saying, it charges when powered off, but not when in webOS or CM?

Or are you saying, it never charges, but just happened to power up?

Did you try jc's app above to see what is says when charging?

What rom do you have installed (CM9, 10, 10.1)?

i was just able to charge it upto 46% by chance!

so i was able to investigate what really is happening now that i got some juice in the battery.

so i try all the options to charge it up to 100% but now no luck.
no charge when on either in webos or cm10
no charge when off

what is jc's app? i have installed cm10

No reason to debrick if it boots.

Install the app, you'll see a new program called Touchpad charger app or something similar. Open it and plug in and see if it shows charging. I'm guessing you have ruined a cable or possibly your charging port. You might try wiggling the cable or trying another. Also make sure your charger top is screwed on.

I'd also flash your A6 chip from webOS: TouchPad Battery Drain issues & How Flashing A6 Firmware can help - HP Touchpad - RootzWiki

ok will try all of those as of now pretty sure it is not charging because the charger is dead cold. when i am able to charge it gets really hot

i think i found another problem i am trying to flash A6 chip now. but upon reaching novacom terminal. (after connecting tab to computer) its says no device connected.

could this finally mean that the problem i am experiencing is the loose connection of the touchpad port? (its a little wiggly)

It could be the port or it could be the cable. Try another cable first. I had my touchpad yanked by the cord and it was loose. I assumed it was the port but when I switched to a different cable it was a snug it to the stock cable had gotten tweaked.

here is the catch the touchpad is here in manila, there is absolutely no service or parts that can be found here. i have to get it in florida.

any ideas?

Can you BORROW other cables to try with JC's battery app? :D

I've never had an issue, but I treat my cable right (I don't bend them), but a lot of people have to replace their cables.
