Root It happened again!

This is the second time this has happened, I received a text, touched the notification to open it, and and out of nowhere messaging crashed, and when I re opened it, all my messages were gone, this is a serious problem for me as a lot of my messages are really important that I can't afford to lose, can someone please explain what's happening?
I'm running unlocked potential ROM and I'm also S-OFF
None of the auto delete settings are enabled

Did you do a clean install?
You might wanna try to clear messaging cache

I had this same problem, the cause I discovered was the text string to my best friend was 6000+ messages long! I supose the problem is where the SMS manager is trying to index them and getting stuck, the first fix was defragging my file system, but that was temporary, so I just ended up backing up my texts and keeping it under 1000 messages
