Sweet! :D

Open Rom Manager

If you've never used recovery from Rom Manager before, Tap the top option to "Flash CWM Recovery", choose the only option there (cm_touchpad). Pick the 4+ version. You should get a "Superuser Request"... tap "Allow", followed by "Success".

Tap "Download Rom"
Tap "CynogenmodNightlies"

Pick the build you want.

Make sure you backup your current rom.

Guess I'll have to update this for the Touchpad: http://androidforums.com/nookcolor-...dirty-upgrade-your-cm7-using-rom-manager.html

I just installed an nightly with the new 4.0.4 kernel.... very nice. (I updated via RM last night.)

Yep and the most recent nightly has done very well for the snapiness of the touchpad. Installed it and it works like a tooper. Anyone not sure whether they want to update to the nightly check this out Touchpad Gets Official CM9 Nightly Builds, Changelog Page

Absolutely. A noticeable difference in performance all around, and in my case, no more wonky wifi. Instead of having to turn it off and on several times to get it to connect after the TP wakes up, it now connects effortlessly after about 20-30 seconds of coming out of sleep.

Camera and microphone next? Not a big deal, but would be nice.

Thanks to everyone who has works on this!

Dan

Well I am hoping that 4.0.4 is going to be included in the nightly for tomorrow. I may actually go ahead and try the unofficial though. :-)

Since I am an idiot and can't read it turns out it is actually 4.0.4 but the kernel is definitely 2.6.35 so I guess the new one is not out yet but still the build is awesome

Depends on how you like to flash them.

You have several options...

Boot into recovery and backup/flash.
Boot into TWRP and backup/flash using your touch screen.
Flash from Rom Manager (which is just a front-end for recovery).

DL'ing from Rom Manager is nice b/c it will also prompt you to backup (and for gApps if you need them). It's also great for managing (renaming, deleting) backups.

Check the "Android Version", not the kernel. They're different.

It'll be 4.0.(something), probably 4.0.4.

I see I was incorrectly calling everything "kernel". :D

I tried doing this with the Rom Manager that came with my CM9 rom I put on a few months back. It would not work. So my 2 questions are: 1. Do I need to get the premium version to do this and 2: Can I just upgrade my current rom with the premium version and not go through what I went through with the old install. Thanks in advance for a response. Im running Alpha 0.6 with 2.6.35 kernel

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Flash the cwm file (ClockWorkMod recovery) using the acme installer. (Most of us have already done that.) If you've previously booted into recovery, or see the ClockworkMod option in moboot (boot menu), you're all set. If you need them the files/instructions can be obtained from here: [Release][Alpha2] CyanogenMod 9 Touchpad - CyanogenMod [HP Touchpad] - RootzWiki or our guide: http://androidforums.com/hp-touchpad/491926-guide-cm9-your-touchpad.html
  2. Tap the top button in Rom Manager (Flash ClockworkMod Recovery) and choose "yes" and choose the version 3.x+ recovery.
  3. Tap the second button in Rom Manager (Reboot into Recovery) to boot into recovery. The first time you do this you should get a superuser prompt that you need to ok to boot into recovery.
  4. Once you're into recovery, the volume buttons move the highlighted section up and down, the home button does the highlighted task, the power button is a "back" button.
  5. Make sure "reboot system now" is highlighted and press the home button to return.

If that doesn't work, we need to fix it. :D

Has anyone tried the newest nightly? I was just wondering if anything substantial has changed. I read the change log but let me say I don't understand much of what changed which is the reason that I ask.

Yes, installed it today on my wife's TP. Works nicely.

The newer builds with Android 4.0.4 are a bit faster. :D

Well I am running the one which is from 3/29/2012 and it is a 4.0.4 I was just wondering if there are any like milestones in the new nightly as far as the 4/8/2012?

Here's the changelog. (Some of it is English.) :D http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#q,status:merged+branch:ics+(project:CyanogenMod/android_device_hp_tenderloin+OR+project:CyanogenMod/hp-kernel-tenderloin+OR+(-project:%255ECyanogenMod/android_device_.*+AND+-project:%255ECyanogenMod/.*kernel.*)),n,z

Is your shutdown working now? (I didn't see the exact date that was fixed.)
O/W it appears headphone and speaker volumes are separate now.

EDIT: I think shutdown was fixed on 3/27.

Seems like I will be putting this on my touchpad because my bluetooth headphones tomorrow. :-)

I'm on the 3/29 nightly and I just got a random reboot while I was messing with the Bluetooth settings. I believe I switched the Bluetooth off when it was trying to pair and it got hung up with the rotating circle thing and that's when it rebooted

I'm on AOKP and don't recall seeing any reboots. I had them when sleeping a lot with CM9, esp after an update. Maybe I just haven't used it enough tho. Was kind of busy yesterday....

Updated my wife's TP to 4/8 nightly.
Clean install of CM9/kernel on my wife's Nook Color. It was still on CM7, since it wasn't as smooth as our TP's CM9.
Clean install of AOKP on my TP.
Clean install of latest AOKP/custom kernel on my Galaxy Nexus. (Lots of roms and kernels for that.)
My devices all have 4 email accounts, my wife only 2, so pretty much have that memorized. Took screen shots to make sure everything was the same.

It pretty much was an all-day project. (I'm on vacation this week. :D) I almost got a blister.

I got to tell you waiting for the backup to finish is one of the most annoying and time consuming tasks of that procedure. I should probably do the backup before so I am not like a kid that's outside a candy store salivating while looking at the display case :-)
