It's not the delay that's so frustrating...

It's the lack of information! If it's delayed until December why aren't we hearing this from Verizon? Why are we reading rumors from friends of friends? Tell us something Verizon instead of just vague non answers.

My contract is up as of last week. Tell me it's out on Thursday and I'll jump for joy, tell me it's delayed for a month and maybe I'll think about a RAZR or Rezound, keep jerking me around for the next month and I'll jump to sprint and get a Samsung S2 just on principal.

same situation as the thunderbolt release. they have the new devices, but want to sell more of a previous device before they put the new one in the market. with the thunderbolt, it was the iphone 4. with the GNEx it is the razr/rezound. even giving us a date would cause a lot of people to wait. by keeping every one in the dark, they are hoping that consumers will give in and buy something already on the shelves. of course, this is not the case with us power users, but it will work for the general population. tell them you have no idea when the GNex will be out and they leave with something else, tell them the GNex will be out in 2 weeks and they may wait 2 weeks. i do not agree with this policy, but i can't argue that it will work. it may not seem like it reading the threads around here, but you have to remember that by joining this site, you immediately disqualify yourself as part of the "general population". the sheep will pick up another phone, while those in the know will wait almost indefinitely. the only reason to release the info right now is to avoid angry e-mails from people like us, and they probably have a spam filter for that.

sad, but true.

You have to remember, the Razr was their baby. VZW is more willing to back this one, imo, than a phone they can't lock down

It's my current Motorola Droid that literally crawls through applications that makes this wait unbearable.

The phone rings and the calling screen takes so long to show up that by the time it is there and I can swipe to answer, the caller has already hung up or the call has gone to voicemail.

I call my voicemail and press the dialer so I can enter my passcode and the dialer takes to so long to show that the voicemail has timed out.

Simple tasks like checking reading an email or responding to something on facebook or checking in take forever because the app takes forever to load, or the screen takes forever to change from the last app to the next.

I'm rooted, have wiped data and cache and messed around with different ROMs. CM was good for me but CM7 didn't run well. I'm back on BB now but the last few weeks the slowness has become unbearable because of the whole phone call and voice mail thing.

"It's not the delay that's so frustrating..."

It's my own desire to "do the right thing" and wait instead of buying a Rezound knowing I'll return it, just so I can have a working phone for however long it takes until the GNex finally comes out.

Technically no delay. The release dates are all just hopeful guesses. We the community create the dates and the stir.

The only information that is real is that the VP acknowledged it would be released by the end of the year.

That's why we haven't heard from Verizon. And they have to sell their other phones too.

What delay? I wasn't aware a release day was announced and then passed or that a delay was announced.

here we go with this argument again. a delay can most certainly exist without announcing anything.

example:
on monday, i tell you that i will have a report to you by the end of the week. although i do not convey the information to you, i fully plan to have this report to you on wednesday. on wednesday, other business arises and i cannot find time to deliver the report. when i bring it to you on thursday, the report HAS BEEN delayed. whether i told you i would have it there on wednesday or not is irrelevant. i planned to have it there then, i didn't have it there then, and as a result you got it a day later.

haha my OGDroid does the same, I hate that the screen goes dark and turns off before things load so that I have to turn it on again and try and restart the process.

I am becoming increasingly convinced that OG Droids have a self-destruct chip inside, timed to activate somewhere around 2 years after the build date. Droids seem to be dropping like flies or slowing to the speed of molasses these days. Just in time for an upgrade!

Mere coincidence? Hmmmmmmm..........

The truth of the matter is its not just us the community, it's the average customer as well that has become increasingly smarter. My friend at Verizon has said he gets a ton of calls everyday about the GNex, as well as a boat load of people that wander into the store asking when its coming? Its not just us anymore!

I'm so hard nosed on the fact that I really do think Verizon still thinks the customer is stupid....ohh u want that, well take this instead....no wayyyyy, not with 90% of they're sales team not knowing jack about what they're even selling.

The phone is probably ready, its just going to come down to vzw saying....OK release the phone tomorrow...Same nonsense happen with the incredible and Thunderbolt. One day we know nothing, the next day its in the stores. Seriously, why else would cases and accessories for the GNex be sitting in stores right now, as well as training for ICS being jolted out to employees. Classic VZW greed at its finest.

Nevermind..., not worth arguing about.
