J3 pin problem

My LG X Charge friend got lucky and has received a brand old Samsung Galaxy J3 Luna Pro. Unfortunately, we don't know the pin for it and the donor has no idea. I need suggestions, please.

Sounds like a stolen phone to me.

you will need the original gmail and password used to setup the phone.....if you do not have that then you are sol. once you have that info then you can do a hard reset. if you do not have it then by doing a hard reset you will trip FRP.

I'm pretty sure it's not stolen. It was just lying around with some other old phones. I guess I'll just have to check with the person about email and password.

Isn't there a computer (or phone) program that could crack it? There are only 10 to the 4th possibilities. Theoretically that should be easy to do.

Any workarounds to Google FRP are regarded as nefarious (since its intention is to make stolen phones worthless) and discussing them is not permitted here.
You can try searching for that info elsewhere but practically speaking if you don't have the user account login for that phone you might as well toss it.

no idea, you will have to google it. if you do find a repair shop that is willing to work on the phone, you most likely will have to show some proof of ownership or purchase before they will work on it.

just get a cheap cellphone. you can get phones for as cheap as $20!!!!!!! you can even get those pay as you go phones.

Actually, it's not theoretically nor realistically that easy. If FRP was something that could be bypassed in a trivial way, it wouldn't be much of a security measure.
If you're thinking it's such a common thing to do because that's how it's done in movies and TV shows, it's actually a lot more involved. Law enforcement and governmental agencies can hack into smartphones on occasion but it's always a matter where it's done on a very selective basis because of all the resources involved to work on each phone.
In your situation, if you're not sure if this phone has or hasn't been stolen, check on its status using one of the popular IMEI web sites. If it's OK, flash a stock Samsung ROM and just start over from scratch. But if you are trying to access whatever data is still on it, you're going to need to put a lot of effort into it.

If you can prove ownership, like having the original sales receipt. Your local Samsung Service Centre can probably reset and clear it.
