There's no way I can win this argument... sometimes i just like to be contrary...

But... in the interests of me learning something in my big thick head..
care to put a date on his first 'rap' song?

If anyone was stupid enough to suggest that Bob Dylan invented rap... they'd need their head seeing to... SHSB was clearly inspired by Chuck Berry

But back to the original topic. James Brown was an amazing giant of music and creativity and general awesomeness, who inspired genres and countless people who followed... and did it all with an amazing flair.

Nuff said.

indeed.

Well listen to the sound track of Guys & Dolls about the song of a horse named Paul Revere and tell me if that doesn't remind you of rap?

James Brown broke musical theory. His songs shouldn't work but they did. Rap did the same thing. They shouldn't work but they do. Someone needs to rewrite musical theory for the 21st century.
