I've been back and forth on a few forums reading about custom recoveries meant for A13 devices, but I'm a little unclear about certain aspects of it, when determining what would be compatible with my device and what would not.
I referenced this post in particular which seems relevant to my hardware:
[MOD][CWM Recovery 6.0.2.8 For A13 Tablets -v2a] - SlateDroid.com
I'm unclear about what makes or breaks the installation of the recovery, specifically the ability to mount internal and external SD cards. I have been reading tons of posts, all over the place, and I see lots of people saying it worked for them on such and such tablet.. According to my my tablet, I have 10 partitions, ending with nandj, I will copy/paste partitions and cpuinfo below. So, since mine matches, sun5i, 10 partitions, etc, does that mean I'm good to go? Or are there other variables that could cause problems with my cards mounting? My card paths are /mnt/sdcard for the internal memory(mounts on PC as "MID") and mnt/extsd for my 32gb SD card. As far as I can tell, nandg is where the recovery.img is located. Is that the standard for generic A13?
I have already pulled out a copy of nandg, which should be the recovery.img or so I'm led to believe. Now, if I ever end up flashing a custom recovery and something doesn't sit right, is it simply a matter of dd'ing the nandg.img back to the tablet or is there more to it than that?
I'm sorry for the rambling and all the questions, but I'm trying to understand a little more intimately the inner workings of Android, and trying to make my little cheapo tablet a little more awesomer without the headache of bricking it or banging my head on the keyboard for a week trying to fix it from some bad flash.
If anyone would kindly take the time to enlighten me a little further and provide some answers to my questions, I would be infinitely grateful. I have done a good bit of research on this and it's possible I've already answered my own questions, but some extra illumination would definitely help me out. I'm just being cautious, as I don't want to flash something that's going to cause a headache or just flat out kill my tab. I'm very poor and make the best out of what I have (actually have a great cobbled mess of computing power in my house lol), but my tablet is my second best friend and I can't afford to replace it if I screw up.
Anyways, this is a Jazz Ultratab C925, running 4.0, factory kernel rooted, busybox and SU installed. Ultratab 9in
Below is cpuinfo and partitions. If anyone needs any additional info, let me know and I will do whatever is necessary. Thank you for reading and thank you in advance for any help!
