So as the title implies, I'm looking to potentially work on a port of JB/CM10.1 to this. Thoughts? Anyone willing to help? And what's the interest in this?

I'm seeing different things but what I'm seeing more of is that the hardware reqs are similar to that of ICS

It's possible that the prevail can definitely use JB. I know first hand that the Optimus V & S uses a slim down version of roms that have the jb style theme. So why not on prevail? I'm sure with some tweaking & eliminating anything that bogs down memory, it can work.

I remember about 9months to a year ago, people were working on getting ICS to the prevail. They basicly did get it working, but wasnt very stable. It also had 1 major deal breaker for me, the camera would not work. If I also remember correctly, the reason for it not working is they needed someone to write a completely brand new script for camera.

IMO, I think devs should focus more on GB rom development rather than ICS/JB. The reason is lets be honest, we all have customized our phones so much, that from looking at it and even using it, you cant tell if its a GB or ICS/JB OS. If people want the ICS/JB look, there are themes for that. Myself along with most of you reading this are more interested in what kind of performance and features a rom has, versus what OS its based off of.

I agree with you, CM7, though on GB, was amazing and the performance from the OC Kernals available made it even better. But i also agree that people want a new OS as well, CM9 was great, i agree with the deal breaker though. The reason was not because of the scripts though, it was because the prevail's processor (ARM6) could not handle hardware acceleration. That's why further development stopped because there was nothing else to do. But news not to long was going around that there was a JB ROM going around built for ARM6 devices. JB is gonna be a memory hog ( with what we have) but you can always partition your SD for more. JB and an OC Kernal will be perfect. I tried working on it myself but i lost my prevail in the process. Can it be done, YES. Is it going to be hard, incredibly. But, this device wasnt called the prevail for nothing!!!

Actually, the problem with the camera was the lack of proper drivers to run the camera. And AFAIK, any problems present in ICS, will also be present in JB.

Most ics devices were sporting ARMV7 processors though which supports accelerated hardware (the camera, ect.) But you are also right about the drivers too now that i think of it. Unfortunately, though there was a petition for it, Qualcomm would not release the drivers for ARMV6. We would have to find an ARMV6 device that is running a complete ics or jb( if you want it all) rom.
