In a statement, Samsung delivered the news every Galaxy S3 owner has been waiting for.

"Samsung UK can confirm that the roll out of Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) has begun for our Galaxy S3 customers." The South Korean tech giant goes on to say that the much-desired update, "will be available across all networks over the coming weeks, pending software testing and approvals."

We already know that the Jelly Bean update has begun on Three, with the numerical network confirming that the fresh new software had commenced its glorious roll-out.

If you're a Galaxy S3 owner on a different network, expect to see the update winging its way to your mobile soon. We'll be keeping a weather eye on how networks are doing with the update, so keep your peepers here.

If you want to check whether the update is available for your S3, connect to Wi-Fi (the install file is a big'un), go to 'Settings', then 'About Device' and tap on 'Software Update'. This will let you check for any new available software.

The Jelly Bean update isn't a radical upgrade from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but introduces new features like Google Now.

According to Drippler 02 are getting it tomorrow. Wish Orange / EE would get their arses into gear and release it for me!

I am on Vodafone, no news yet.

Update time

You'll need to head over to Settings > About device > Software update on your Galaxy S3 to check if Android 4.1 has made it to you.
It won't necessarily appear today as these updates sometimes take a few days to filter through to every handset, but you should be enjoying Jelly Bean on your S3 very soon.
We've contacted the other networks about their Galaxy S3 updates, but we're still waiting to hear back from O2, Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile.

I'm on Three, no update for me.

My S3 wasnt purchased from Three, does that make a difference?

I've tried Kies and OTA :-(

What's going on, checking the software update on phone and it's telling me the software update system is available in the order which it is requested, try later. What?

You can download the new Three branded firmware from Sammobile. You'll need to use Odin to flash the update, once downloaded.

Ah that will root the phone, don't want to do that. Looks like I will just have to wait for Samsung, my guess is they will let all the UK carriers release it first before they do it. :(

why wouldn't they push it for unbranded first? I'm not mad or anything just surely samsung would push it unbranded first as carriers are so picky with there releases and clearly the stock jb is done...?

I'm quite amazed that unlocked phones aren't getting the update first. Not really pissed off as it's just a smallish update but odd - I think the word is.

It is strange. I was expecting unlocked phones you get it first. Came as a surprise to me for sure.

Yes, being an official firmware, it comes as stock. The system will be still counted as "Normal" and not "Modified".

Awesome! It worked.

Version: JRO03C.I9300XXDLJ1

I dont get it, it appears thats been available since the 09/10/2012, why doesnt everyone just do it via Odin?!
