Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) discussion

Jelly Bean is officially coming out in August 29. Then is going to be delayed then the tipster is going to e-mail another website saying is coming out at the end of september, which then going to be a fake date, then october is gonna be mention but no luck then Halloween comes in and we all get Jelly Beans trick or treat!!!

I officially made this up so I take no responsibility for this semi funny post.

Thanks a lot for the information all. Sounds like the CM ROM is good if you want to constantly work on your phone...no offense. I look forward to the official or whatever you want to call it version of Jellybean. I rooted my phone but am not a big fan of having to constantly work on it or change things. You guys have been a great help though.

Well you have the choice, you can flash the stable versions if you want something you know just works or you can flash the nightlies to always be current and on the latest and greatest.

Nobody's forcing you to do anything

Can you point me to where the "stable version" is that you mentioned?
Thanks

CM10 is your best bet for jelly bean in the near future. I don't even think the nexus phones have an official update yet, which is going to be well before we can even think of getting it. Not to mention Samsung has to put Touchwhiz on it and test that.

Oh and the simple fact that Samsung is Never fast with updates or have we all gotten amnesia?

We will be lucky to have it OTA by years end. I bet against that happening. Which is why I will be trying it via root.

selective amnesia!

If that build is official, I hate how Samsung has stuck with their UI look and not the real JB style. But, all I really care about is "project butter" and Google Now. The Google Now feature should really take this phone one more step.

I really hope VZW can get this update out soon after the official release.

should us peasants on verizon expect this at the same time as att and other carriers? no. so when will WE receive it realistically?

There is no way to know. Reasonably, you would hope if this does release at the end of the month, that we can see it a month later.

But 2-3 months would not be out of the question.

So after watching the i/o I was very impressed with jelly bean. I was planning on switching from my iPhone to a S3 but now a nexus phone seems appealing. How long do you guys speculate until the S3 gets jelly bean? Also, I am rather new to android so does anyone know if the new nexus phones will be offered subsidized from ATT?
I came from a gnex to an S3 and can say that the S3 is far more superior than gnex when it comes to signal strength, battery life, user interface and overall performance. I also have a motorola Xoom wifi (with jelly bean) and can say that while the jelly bean runs smoother / faster than ICS, it is no where near drastic enough difference to step back to my gnex....

I looked but may have failed to see it, but what is "Project Butter"?

Google's attempt to stop Android lag. The screen runs at 60 fps. Trying to make the experience as smooth as possible. Interesting to see if the S3 could get even more smooth. This project just started in JB.

I think I read somewhere once that they are running the CPU and the graphics parallel to each other. Instead of them "hitting" each other. I am no expert on that, but it makes sense logically.

Hello.

I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right place, so sorry if i haven't.

I was wondering what with the Jelly Bean update around the corner for us S3 users and adobe rendering flash useless after the update should I be worried about updating to Jelly Bean? Is there any way we can watch flash content after updating?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Many thanks for any help.

Ok I read a few post of people opinions ..... heres what i have read around

Yes you should update to Jelly Beans heres why (click here)

Flash is useless because the new thing around is html5 even though sites havent really upgraded to this "html5"

and theres fakes out there that will do the job that flash does something like that...

and trust me if flash is that big of an issue Google would do something about it ....they wouldnt want us to be unsatisfied...

and I read Adobe is trying to get take out Flash out of every mobile device so either way one day youll be screwed

If I am not mistaken, Flash Player works pretty much. Although you can't download it from the Play Store, but if you have the APK you can install it. It won't work perfectly, but flash contents should load.

I feel like the only one perfectly content with ICS.

It's not that most of us are not content with ICS, but we know there's something newer and better out there and we want to be on the bleeding edge.

One of the reasons we got the SIII in the first place, no?

Does anyone know if Jelly Bean might possibly improve reception? This might be the single area where I think the GS3 is a little lacking (overall a great device). Dare I hope......
