Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) discussion

If that build is official, I hate how Samsung has stuck with their UI look and not the real JB style. But, all I really care about is "project butter" and Google Now. The Google Now feature should really take this phone one more step.

I totally agree. Gives a certain "other" phone a run for its money. :p

None of the manufacturers will ever get rid of their overlay.

Even though they are all worse than stock Android, they use that to differentiate their product.

What I have noticed (and is cool) about Google Now, is that if I Google a business or place on my laptop then go to use my JB Nexus 7, I have a card pop up with the map and travel time. This will rock when it's on my phone

I feel like the only one perfectly content with ICS.

I love ICS. Its very stable and a great improvement from past versions. But the Google Now feature and project butter are very good features. I don't think people realize how cool Google Now is going to be.

Like you said, I am perfectly happy with it as well. But I want some features JB has.

Got this working on my S3, stock ROM. Awesome! Cards from searches on my laptop. :D

I have ice cream and i think i dont have the flash player. I cant play hulu or collegehumor videos. Will these websites eventually switch from flash to something my s3 can play?

I can't remember if the S3 comes with Adobe Flash Player pre-installed or not, but you can download it from the play store if you haven't got it

I went to the play store and i guess my phone doesnt have the flash 11 since it saids free instead of installed. But the flash app saids the app is not compatiable with my u.s. s3.

Will the update be via your carrier or Samsung. I know when I had Nokia, I had to wait for Tmobile even though the updates were already available through Nokia's site. Does anyone know if this is the case?

31st of August or 1st of September if you have the International Unlocked version. IF you bought it from a carrier, then you're stuck until your carrier releases it

unless you root .. Jelly bean has been available for some time, the only glimpse of hope i have for non rooted US carrier phones is maybe they will try to have the update ready before the iphone 5 comes out so that Samsung is not outdone by a newer phone but this is just my theory.

I'm holding out as long as possible on rooting my s3 because i kinda like it the way it is but its only a matter of time before i cave and root and start tinkering with my s3.

Can anyone with the stock jelly bean rom installed comment on the battery life? I know there has been reports of issues around cell standby battery drain, wanted to know if you guys have experienced better battery life. Also have you been able to notice the frame rate change to 60fps?

Having JB on my Nexus 7, I cannot wait for it to hit my GS3. It really is the next step in putting the polish on Android. Project butter has done a great deal to improve fluid movements and a great "wow" appeal.

Google Now is impressive from my experience with it, although I don't see myself using it often similar to when I left siri untouched on my iPhone. Just isn't a huge daily tool to me.

Google Play does have the Flash player available now. However, I've heard that it won't be there for long. If we have the Flash player installed now, does that mean that we have the apk file on our phones? If so, where is it? I can't find it. Thanks.

My guess is Verizon will be up to two months later than most other carriers, but looking forward to the update, since getting JB on the TF300.

Better than expected and as already mentioned in a few threads, Flash performance is even better as well. Ironic for a now non-supported feature. Post update, Flash works great with Boat, Dolphin and XScope.

Nice OS update.
