Ah, see, that's what I get for saying things from memory and not actually having one. You can do it if you have now open. Just say google and it will search. Found this that may be of interest too.

Ya guys Google Now has ALWAYS been this way...it's called "Hotword Detection" and you can turn it on and off. When ON all you have to do is say "Google" and Google Now will automatically begin listening for your voice command. It's actually works perfectly and you'd be surprised at how much Google Now can do. You can say "Google...send an e-mail to David: Hey Dave you suck!" and it will pull up your G-Mail and send a message for ya.
