Dr Hack

Newbie
Hello,

Few Questions

Scenario: Flashed Jellytime R24, was running CM7.2 on HTC DHD

Question 1: The total Ram Shows as 594MB and Free RAM is 170MB , with only basic Apps (which run in the backgroud i.e G+,Whatsapp,Gmail,Email etc) is that Normal? on CM7.2 it was around 620MB and had 200+ free RAM without running anything, How Much Free RAM you people have without pressing the kill apps button? and wont it hinder if i run heavy Apps, or Games , like just doing messaging etc i am sitting on 90MB free RAM ..

Question 2:If i go into Settings of Gallery it always appear BLANK , Always .. ?

Question 3: Will it be Safe to remove the Launchers with came with the ROM i.e Nova Launcher etc ? if Yes have to remove from Folder ?
Answer Got the Answer, its A Yes

Question 4: Where to adjust the Notification lights for messages and missed calls etc?

Question 5: When I get a new message the mobile screen gets on and the notification light blinks, but the screen never turns off and if another message is received before i have touched the mobile the blinking light also stops .. kind of strange behaviour ?

Question 6: I have some questions specific to Applications behaviour with this ROM can i ask those here aswell ? (Mostly related to Go Sms Pro and GO launcher)

Thanks in Advance

hello there..

1. my first jellytime rom was 20..and ram memory was 594, don't know why but phone works perfectly.. :) pay no attention to that

2. this morning i found the same thing with a gallery, i recommend you to use QuickPic its free in playstore..and it's much much better than stock gallery..

3. question by launcher, i didn't try it but i think that you can remove one of those launcher, use titanium backup :)

4. don't know but try settings-automatic backlight and there find light levels

5. if you use go sms try this, settings-notification settings and disable screen on, than go to default notification settings and disable blink led or disable stock message..

6.go ahead :D

1.
But i feel a bit of Lag , and even light USE, facebook app, messaging etc and RAM is only 70MB :/ ..what are your stats or other peoples ? i am coming from CM7.2 and i am finding this slow because of RAM i guess

2.
Thanks, just wanted to confirm so should this go in Issue tracker / ? well the Gallery app seems decent
3.
I searced can remove from TB , but i tried doing that butwhen ever i click on Uninstall App in TB , it freezes.

4.tried , did a screen off and on , three times and DHD got rebooted. well, i meant the notification Light on the top of the phone . .in there , no such option ..(messed with the options phone got off and started showing a boot loop, did a wipe of dalvick cache now its turning on again ) EDIT: STILL BOOT LOOP

5.DID as you suggested, i might not have made my self clear.
Scenario: I receive a msg, screen turns on, lights starts blinking green, for 10s screen stays on, then get turned off again , and the blinking green light stops Blinking .. WHICH i think should continue blinking as it was before ...

Questions:: I am using Go Launcher and SMS launcher and have installed the GO Notification app , but i dont get the new message/email/ notifcations on the icons of Apps .. it was all fine on my previous ROM , anyone else found some way to fix this ?

ANOTHER Question: I am on Radio/Baseband/Kernel 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M (3.0.49 JellyTime_R24-gaeabb17 randomblame@Ferocious #3 but someone shared that the Latest Radio/Baseband: 12.69.60.29_26.17.14.11_M , so should i flash it over ? can that make any differences (positive ones) ?wanted to know before trying anything

I suggest you to install 4ext recovery and do FULL wipe, back up your SD card and format it, put ROM and gapp somewhere on SD, flash with 4ext and i thing that will be ok than..

and as for the third part of notification..i think that they do not work..once i install notification pro, and nothing happened when receive message/missed call..

i tell you, try full wipe, format sd card, flash rom and gapps and and it should work
as well..

i have 217mb free ram at this moment..

(use karnel that comes with the rom)

Flashing a Radio is a bit risky. If the current one works, I would leave it alone.

If you want something a bit lighter, I would recommend aospX. It's based on Ice Cream Sandwich rather than Jelly Bean, but it is my favorite AOSP/AOKP ROM.

oups, i didn't know this, i wiped ALL with 4ext..for now, it's remarkable..

293mb free rom :P

A full wipe with 4Ext leaves your Radio intact. The only way to wipe you Radio is to flash another.

i understand now..I saw that 4ext offers much wipe options, so i click on every one :D and for now have no problems.. :)

When I do a full wipe with 4Ext, I usually do a Factory Reset + Wipe Cache and Dalvik + Erase all Partitions (Except SDCard). A bit redundant, but it works for me :-)

I read the same , Radio's are responsible for the network signal str and got nothing to do with other ROM features ..so better not touch it if its working.

Downloading aospX , lets see . .That was the issue with sense , it took lots of RAM .. other wise sense 4 is so much better then everything :)
the freedom of RAM at hand is what has always been the point of custom ROMs .. Are you using this ROM Ral ?

Did you just pressed the Kill button ? :p .. i have 225MB Free, everything running in Back gr but on CM7.2, randomblame is going to launch RC25 Tonight . so will give that one more try aswell :P

Lately I go back and forth between aospX and Blackout ICS.

Objectively, aospX is the superior ROM. Surprisngly it does better than Blackout ICS Incredible terms of battery life. Other AOSP/AOKP ROM's I have tried seem to take longer than Sense ROM's in putting the phone to Deep Sleep. aospX does well in this regard.

Running 1.2 GHz on Blackout is still slower that 1 GHz on aospX.

Subjectively, I like Sense 3. Although, every version of Sense after 3.5 is a step backwards if you ask me. With 3.6 we lost advanced power management. With 4, the ability to set default sharing apps was removed. Peep is gone too.

nope, i haven't even installed :P

I have 372 RAM at the moment. Jelly time is the smoothest ROM I have had.

That stupid old human tendency to push machine to the max :D, your post making me give JT another try , which i am doing right now , hope i get around 260+ RAM on standby with bg apps.. that will acceptable i guess

I was waiting for the new RC of JT , but it didnt come ..then just got 4ext and Flashed aospX as Ral suggested and its pretty sleek and responsive ... but i dont get it why it doesnt detec those hotspots created by Adhoc etc , it never worked in JT not in aospx .....

EDIT: RC25 is out .. just saw :) ..will give it a try some day aswell ..after the weekend i guess

@OP

You can set how much ram you want to always be available in the settings, and there are some others for vram and compressing stuff.

Although flashing a radio is risky, installing a RUU with the right radio is better as you know for sure that everything (hboot) is compatible.
Make sure you're fully charged!
