Help Joining Facebook contacts

When I join my contacts to their facebook account it always keeps the facebook name, rather than the contact name. I have tried doing it bothways, i.e contact first, edit and join....and facebook account first, edit and join.

No luck with both, anyone else having the same problems?
 
If it picks up the contacts from what you have saved in the phonebook I think it can leave the name you originally had.

For instance it found my friend called MacDonald from Mac and I still have him saved as Mac.
 
If there is, I haven't found it yet. However, if you go into a contact which has changed to the Facebook name and hit menu and edit contact - the original phonebook name is still there!
 
what is really wierd is that some of my facebook contacts blended with my phone contacts and left the name i had assigend on the phone, and some joined and added thier facebook name. cant seem to make heads or tails of it. i have tried to seperate contacts and rejoin but nothing works. now it always puts the facebook name as the contact name.

I have a couple which remained. I think if the phonebook name was similar enough and the Facebook contact automatically recognised it got away with it.
 
Stupid bug that prioritizes the Facebook name over the Google contact name.

For this alone I wont syn contacts. Utterly annoying.
 
when i first got the phone, i told it to grab the contacts off of FB. didn't occur to me that it would be read only. i have something like 298 friends on fb - people i've known since grade school and then high school adn college. thought that i could delete all the ones i didn't want, not just hide them... after i rooted my phone, i didn't allow it to get anything but my gmail addressbook, as those are the important numbers/addresses. sure, it's nice to know i have 300+ contacts, but honestly, if i want them, i can just go get them manually.
 
does the chat system in facbook work in Nexus onez? I do not see the icon or do I need to add the application...anyone know what exactly I need to do?

I think you need to add an app. I do it with Meebo
 
thanks...but do you know what the app is called. I have looked and I do not want to download the wrong app
 
The actual problem is that it will use the last alphabetical name e.g if facebook name is charles, and google name is charly, it will choose charly

Holy crap, this is very very annoying. Is there any fix for this as of yet? Any way to manually edit the displaying contact name at all?? I'm very anal about my contacts and this is driving me maaaad.... I may just not sync with facebook if I have to, but I'd prefer it you know?

Sorry for the dead thread revival, I wasn't sure whether to start a new one or to simply reply here. However, when starting a new one it suggested to check this thread first, so . . .
 
what's worse is you can't even add phone numbers to FB contacts if it isn't in the contact info already.

the only way to add a phone number to that contact is to make a new contact with the same exact name, add the phone number, and then it will automatically merge with the other contact.
