I just returned from Moscow (10 hour flight + 3 hours at the airport).
My GN was in airplane mode except for the short times when it was off and the request of the airline. I use my GN for only as a media player (and it does a pretty good job of handling media). Anyway, I watched movies, listened to music, and read magazines on the Kindle app. The stock (year old battery) lasted the entire time with about 10% to spare. My phone did not get warm.
In Singapore I have a SIM with a data plan only, and I make extensive use of free Wifi for online entertainment. I only get about 7 hours of battery life on my GN. It runs a little warm.
Yes I call, and message my wife, and check email, but I have other phones for that. All my friends do the same.
