Just bought a transformer :)

I'm very excited. From all the reviews I've read it looks like a solid tablet and fast enough for what I want to use the tablet for. I bought it on amazon and I should get it Tuesday.

My plan is to use it as an ebook, view training videos (CCNA cert instruction videos - exciting i know), and maybe use it as my "DLNA" where I can hook up the tablet to my TV to watch movies. I'm sure I'll invent more usage ideas.

I'm also excited that the ASUS transformer is getting ICS. Rumor has it it'll be the first tablet to get ICS we'll see.

I was wondering what you guys use the tablet for? What are your thoughts about it? Pros cons. Anyone root it?

DLNA is wireless. which would rock but don't have. :(

I use mine for games, movies, internet/email, work documents,
in that order. :)

Congratulations with your Transformer. You won't regret your purchase. As already stated, DLNA is not available, but HDMI works really well. Just get MX player and Moviebrowser from the Market and you're fine. Both are free btw.

Cool I can't wait I get it tomorrow. I read this on asus' website about the transformer:

"Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS (4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgradable)
with ASUS Waveshare UI"

That wasn't there like 2 days ago when I was looking up tablets. That's pretty exciting it's getting ICS.

too bad their accessory store doesn't work http://us.estore.asus.com/ I just get "Cannot display the webpage." Does it work for anyone else? i tried 2 computers nd 3 different kinds of browsers heh.

edit:
nevermind the page just came up. Not many accessories listed. I was hoping for a dock that's not a keyboard.

Congrats on the new toy! :)
I recommend Aldiko for the reader app. READER functions from app to app that I've tried are very much same and most are quite serviceable. However I prefer Aldiko because of the way it handles the 'book shelf'. I have several hundred books on the tablet, so a reader that makes it easier for me to find books on the 'shelf' is important to me.

This tablet is awesome. I wish I had a faster wireless router so I can stream my videos heh.

If you have DLNA setup on your windows 7 computer you can stream videos to your transformer! Including whatever librarys you have shared. It connects to windows 7 flawlessly. The only drawback is you cannot stream HD videos on 54mbs wireless G band lol. I recommend wireless N band if you're going to try heh.

I'm still playing with it but so far it's pretty awesome. I can see this replacing my core i7 laptop that weighs 10lb's :)

I really like the transformer but I just read the transformer prime comes out in 5 days and I have until January 31st 2012 to return my item for a full refund. Amazon is awesome that's all i gotta say. So I'm likely going to return it for the prime for sure. Might as well ya know?

See how much you can keep the TF101 for. I've never been stuck with it acting slow, and can't see myself upgrading to the prime (will probably skip the upcoming Tegra 3 tablet generation...maybe even the next). If you can get it for like $250-300, I think I'd keep it.

I second that. I got my Transformer and the keyboard/dock on Black Friday for $350 total. For what I use it for, that beats $500 for the Prime any day.

I think a lot more of us would have your nice setup if it could be had for that price yet, congrats on the score. I was looking at a getting a Prime but I've used a HP Touchpad and I thought that was fast!

It wouldn't surprise me if the 1st gen Transformer and dock come down closer to the Black Friday prices when the Prime hits all the big name retail channels. The Iconia and Thrive were a little less, but the TF101 is a better deal with its superior expandability and accessories, IMO. It could slot in as a great middle choice between the Kindle Fire and Prime, Xoom 2, etc.

No I paid 420 for it. Wasn't worth keeping.

Try to find one for $299. Every store I have been at in Florida only has them for $399. Same model, same specs....$100 more.

I'm waiting on mine from Best Buy. It says it should be shipped to my store by the 15th. I sold my Touchpad for $200 and I had an $80 Reward Zone certificate so I took the plunge. I'm going to use it for a comic book reader and web browsing.
