her first android,it came with 2.1 installed,i'm familiar with android,got a cappy,anyways put her sim in from att/centennial USA,works but i've got the roaming R where the bars are,all data is off,going to use my wifi,is it a quirk because it's an international phone? just curious thanks!

If your phone shows "R" then your are roaming. I've noticed it in India. I bought a Sim in AP and when I went to TN it changed as "R".
