Just got a Bionic this weekend...

It's my first droid and I really like it....but now with Nexus and Razr coming out in days should I return and get one of the 2? Bionic seems like it has good potential but am I going to be living in the past with these phones right here? Also notice I am having the 4G/3G/x1 drop problem pretty bad...

Anyway thanks for any comments.

One is going to be release din the future with Android 4 (aka Ice Cream Sandwich) and the other two will be upgeaded to Android 4.

The Razr is thinner than the Bionic sligthly faster but does not have a removable battery. There is also a debate as to which screen is bettter.

I think all three devices are going to be around for a couple of years.

Since you are asking, the Razr is supposed to be out 2011.11.11 you could compare your Bionic to it and see which one you prefer ... or wait.

I chose the Bionic.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I think if I do return it will be for the Nexus...which I don't know all the much about.

Personally I prefer motorola over nexus, and motorola over basically any other brand. Just better quality to me. I debated returning my bionic and getting the razr, but no removable battery turned me off of that very quickly. I mean, if you can't get an extended battery then what do you do if you are a heavy user and it's dying after like 6 hours of use. Nothing you can do about it. So if you are a heavy user, I'd recommend not getting the razr because of that reason. The bionic will be a good phone and be around for years. If your happy with it keep it. If not then return it and find something you like more. I Love the bionic, does everything I need, and much more.

Go Galaxy Nexus. Better specs, better screen, newer OS, thinner profile.

Motorola has the worst build quality IMO. I've been through 5 Bionics because of Motorola quality control issues. Just because a phone is heavier and bigger doesn't mean it's better quality. The only way I got my Bionic to work flawlessly without freezes, reboots, and crashes was to root and flash Th3ory ROM.

The Galaxy S phone I had previously worked perfectly from day one (stock).

I must have got a good one. I have no problems and bugs to speak of. The only I have going on is loss of 3G but only 1-2 times a week.

I thought the First Nexus Was a Complete Fail? And I know for a fact that the first Razr was the worlds worst phone. Just Say'n

No removable batt (razr) = FAIL..

No SD capability (Nexus) = FAIL

Bionic for me... No issues at all and SUPER fast...

And LOVE MOTO build quality, not a squeaky creaky sammy or HTC..

I've never owned an HTC phone, so I can't comment about that. But, the only phone I've ever come across that "squeaks and creaks" is the Droid Bionic:
http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid-bionic/439647-fixing-creak.html

I'm on my 5th Bionic, and my co-worker had 4 different Droids before finally deciding to go with an iPhone 4S (all 4 Droids had issues/problems). Another Co-worker swears to never buy another Motorola phone again after using the Cliq. This will probably be my last Motorola phone (mainly due to the locked bootloaders).

You know I was really rethinking my decision about choosing the Bionic during my first 2 weeks of owning it. I had several of the known issues happen to me. I was also a little pissed when I found out about the Razr.

With all that being said, I decided to keep my Bionic. I really feel like i made the right choice. This phone is truly amazing. It is so fast (light years over my ERIS)! The issues that i was having now seem to be a thing of the past and everything is working great.

My issues have been going away too (I.e. leaked updates). I love my bionic! Wouldn't trade for the razr even if they swapped it for free. It's working great for me.

actually have the facts before you post. and you sound like a drama queen. 5 bionics... please.

Get an EVO or T-Bolt. And i can honestly say my OG was a frickin TANK, that thing never made a squeak.. And my DX, DX2 and now my Bionic, all problem free and nary a squeak to be heard.. Look up squeaky HTC phones.

3 T-bolts i went through, i wont EVEN get into the sammy junk.. Nope, always had great luck with moto as you can tell i keep buying them (full price) and i wouldn't do that if they were junk.

And iphones are out of the question, for many reasons but one being the non removable batter (a deal killer) on any phone. i am a heavy user and need to either have access to a battery swap or at the very least an extended battery.

And i can't figure out WHY on earth the Nexus will not have an SD card?!?!:confused:but that is a deal killer on that phone..

Thanks for all the feedback! I think I really like the Bionic...I just have this really annoying signal drop...why would they give me 4G and it be crappy in this area? The phone barely keeps 3G too....hopefully the update people are talking about will help out....also does anyone know if the newer versions of android will come out for the Bionic?

you picked a 4G device. the update isnt gonna help your 4G signal strength. if you live in a bad area its a tower issue.

30 to 60 days! for an update...maybe! and "some of the problems" Moto is saying(working as expected) Look at the posts here and decide if you want to keep it. The Bionic is plagued with problems. We(Bionic owners) should not have to root and ROM for these smart phones to work correctly. IMO

I agree this is unacceptable! But really, rooting and/or installing the leaked versions is not that difficult. Even if the leaked versions aren't final, they are better than waiting 2 months from now to have a usable signal and someone will figure out how to install any new versions that get leaked. To me, the signal drop is the only issue with this phone, since most of the other bugs I've had I can overlook, or fix with other software (ie. camera lag).

Do we know that the signal drop is actually fixed by the update? How has it work for people that had the issue and installed the leak?

I'd love to do that ... but ... currently there is no way to remove the leak after it is installed and return to the stock device.

Maybe the current leak will be the OTA. Maybe it won't. Getting from stock to the OTA through the leaks (even if they are removed) may be a problem.

If you don't care ... install the leak.

I keep hoping for a REAL beta test program from Motorola/Verizon.

Plagued? Plagued?

Sigh. People post about problems. No one jumps on to say "My phone is terrific! I have no issues at all! Let's talk about my non-issues!"
Every forum for any phone is full of people with issues (ahem). That's what a forum is, basically.

Not having constant signal 24/7 isn't a) the end of the world or b) a problem with the phone.

Squeaky case? Please.

And, OMG!, I may have to reboot once in a blue moon!

The bionic rocks for me. If it doesn't float your boat, look at something else. I'm sure the Razr will rock for other folks.

I think the OP will like his new toy. My OG rocked until the day I bought my Bionic - I'm sure it would still be. The Bionic's going to be supported for quite a while.

ETA: Everyone who complains about their smartphone should be forced to use a Doro for a year. So says me. ;)
