Root Just got a Droid X - NOT ROOTED - Won't Boot Past Logo

Greetings,

I picked up a brand new Droid X, turned it on, got it all setup, and it downloaded my apps that I used to have on my old Droid. Then I rebooted it after all the apps were installed and updated, and now it will not move past the Motorola logo screen.

Searching around the internet I have found others that ran into this issue, but they were always rooting their phones. I also am not able to boot into recovery mode.

I have not rooted it, attempted to root it, or done anything other than as described above.

Is there anything I can do? Or do I have to just head back to Best Buy and demand a replacement unit?

***UPDATE*** It seems that the phone may boot after all but just only shows the Motorola logo screen... I tried calling myself from another phone and my Droid X started ringing...but the screen still only shows the Motorola logo on the black background....?
 
try a factory reset from the recovery screen.

1. Turn the phone off.

2. Hold the Power and Home buttons down for about 5 seconds.

3. A screen with an exclamation will appear. Tap the Search key.

4. Scroll down to factory reset using the Volume Down button.

5. Confirm the selection.

6. Select Yes — delete all user data then tap OK.

The Droid X will then complete the hard reset.
 
I had the same problem. Not rooted, could not hard reset and it would only display the Motorola M icon when I pressed power. It acted odd in showing the M too. Eventually the button lights and the screen would dim and turn off even though I continued to hold down the power button. As if was only registering a click of the power button.

Taking the battery out and putting it back in fixed it for me. Phone booted up fine once I put the battery in and powered up again.
 
just keep pulling the battery ... eventually it will boot up

then root the phone and upgrade to the 2.3.230 leak OS....this OS fixes the stuck at M logo bug.
