Help Just got the phone, a few questions tho

I love this phone. I thought it would be too big but it feels smaller and thinner than my old galaxy nexus. Okay I have a few questions.

1. How can I turn off the screen being turned on when I receive a text message. My phones screen will be off and someone texts me and the screen turns on. How can I shut this off?

2. I am using google play music for my music and I can't seem to figure out how to use a lock screen widget. Where is the setting to have the lock screen widget ? That is where i can turn on my screen and quickly tap next song or pause .

1. No idea. Mine has started to do this. It did not before.

2. Its automatic. When you play music, it appears

1 - I use GO SMS for text messages. There's an option for disabling screen turn on when receiving a message.

2 - I don't use Google Play Music but other music players have screen lock controls such as poweramp

Google music streams your music from the Google music servers. Other players cannot do this

Yes I am using google play music but my music is on my sd card. While I am playing music and I lock the phone, I turn it on and the widget is not there. I know there is a widget because my galaxy nexus had a lock screen widget for google play music.

1. I use handcent and also believe it has an option to do this.

2. When the you are actively playing music with google music, the lock screen controls are on there automatically.

As I say, it should be there automatically. I see it on my pattern lock screen. I don't use the samsung standard lock though.

You can pull down the notification tab (even in the lock screen) and there will be player controls there for whatever music player you're listening to. With this feature, there's really not much need for lock screen widgets anymore.
