just moved from iphone 4s to s3

just got s3 in UK , quad core, slightly dissapointed.

backed up my iphone and got the sms database and used sms backup and restore into my s3. it did not restore the ismss but this is most likely due to incompatibility but I can live with this.

Backed up contacts to gmail, to csv file and bumped it across with bump app. All 700+ contacts show up but they have no contact numbers. When I go into the contact there is no telephone number. Because iphone phonebook uses the format first name, middle name, surname, main tel. whereas android uses mobile as the main contact number. So I am having to log into my Gmail contact to copy and paste the main tel into the mobile field, then sync for it to show in my phone. I tried to edit the CSV file by rename the main tel column to mobile column. But excel keeps deleting the zero prefix from all my telephone numbers because it is using a number format but I want to keep the leading zeros. Does any one know how to over come this.

I bought the phone from a second hand phone shop as fully unlocked. It was in a blue unbranded box with matching IMEI on the phone and box . When I first turned it on, the boot screen just says samsung galaxy siii , gt-i9300 and no network logos but I noticed there was Vodafone widgets so I removed it but I could not remove some default voda update, voda music apps so I have just disabled these in the applications manager. Am i right to assume this phone was orignially locked to vodafone and then probably traded into the second hand phone shop . I understand I am going to have to root/flash factory firmware to remove this. But I cant because it is under warranty. I think it is unlocked because I am using o2 in it. can I find out if this was a locked network phone from the baseband version?

Another thing is battery issue.
I turned off keep wifi on during sleep to never. Turned off nfc, turned off account sync, turned off wifi. Gone into most apps and removed the notifications. (such a shame it is not as easy as iphone so excited about jelly bean with the ability to turn off notifications). I have data, Bluetooth (for my car), power saver (but limit cpu disabled), got two alarms to wake up for work turned on.

Pull out AC at 0800 to go to work and phone will die by 1800 daily.
The iphone 4s could easily last 2 days including leaving it over night with wifi, Bluetooth, data turned on.

Also although the s3 is quad core it seems a bit lag when exiting sms back to the home screen. Theres like a slight delay whilst it refreshes the default accu weather widget. So again I have gone into developers and turned off animation. i have also turned off s voice.

So all of the information is in your Gmail account, but not the phone?

Go into settings/applications and find your contacts app. Clear cache and data (this will wipe out your contacts on the phone). Let Google sync your contacts.

There's a risk (small, but it happens) in buying an ex-contract phone whereby the original user gets the phone, sells it and naturally doesn't maintain the contract payments. When the carrier stops receiving payment they block the IMEI number and the phone is near useless. Happens with Iphones on Ebay quite a bit.

You don't bump it over. If its in Gmail, simply sign into your phone with your Gmail account and it all downloads.

Not sure what you mean by "turned off" wifi sleep policy to never. To be clear (as counter intuitive as it sounds) you DO want wifi to NEVER sleep.

thats my concern also but the phone shop guy only accepts trade ins with an original receipt . so if he does have any come backs he will sort it out for me. he is a neighbour owns phone shop lol

is it possible to root , remove branding apps , then reset flash coutner, remove root.

but if i had any software updates the vodafone apps would come back so am i better off flashing a factory firmware?
