Help Just out of the box and confused.

So I linked my Google account and it links ALL of my pictures, including deleted ones. I cannot find these deleted ones on my phone where they were taken or on my Photos app where (I thought) they were backed up since the folder is called auto back up in the gallery. Whats more is I cannot delete any pictures or folders. The trash can is not there. I've pushed every button. I've googled it to no avail. I did a hard reset and did NOT link my google and took pictures and the trash can appeared and allowed me to delete. Am I just doomed to have an unlinked device? I am pretty tech stupid. Any help would be greatly apprecitated.
