Just received my Otterbox Commuter case for my N2

Well the case fits just like any other Otterbox case i have had.. The screen protector that comes with the Otterbox i hardly never use but i did want to try it out just to make sure it worked with the S-pen and it works without any issues.

I went with the black because i notice white/light grey cases tend to get dirty looking over time.

The price is a little high then usual since they are only available from the Otterbox site but if you find a coupon code like i did you can save a few bucks and get free shipping. What really sucks is they charge sales tax EVERYWHERE, no matter what state you are in ( which is odd ). Some will choose to wait until it hits Amazon to save money ( i have Prime myself ) but i couldnt stand dealing with the cheap 10 dollar case i got from Amazon anymore.

Case goes on very easy. Nice tight snug fit. Not overly tight like on certain phones. All port cut outs are perfect.

The cutout for the charging cable fits PERFECT with the stock Samsung charging cable. Its a exact fit, So if you have another off brand cable you use that is a hair bigger on either side, it probably wont fit.

The only thing i was concerned about was the camera cutout ( its almost right up next to the silver trim around the lens. After installation though i checked it out and took some pics and the case does not block the lens at all ( nor does the flash ) so everything is good there.

All in All it fits like a glove! Everything is perfectly cut. Power and volume buttons work perfectly and no added force is needed ( it wont depress a button while in your pocket )

pics....

Looks nice! The only reason why I didn't buy one is because I wanted a case with a kickstand. I ordered the Seidio Active case instead.

I hear ya, on a phone of this fantastic size, cases should have built in kick stands. I really want the defender case but want a kickstand built into the case and not on the clip belt piece.

Sorry for what is probably a stupid question, but you can take the screen protector off right?

I'm tempted to get one of these but would rather not use the screen protector.

The screen protector is separate its not attached to the case, So you can put it on if you like or leave it off. ( i didn't use mine but i did install it just to check how the Spen worked with it on and it worked fine ) then i just took it off.

It add a little bulk to the phone, Makes it a litte more hefty but then again i like this.. Phones that are way to slim and light i feel uncomfortable holding. I love my Note 2 but as slim and smooth as it is, I needed a case ASAP.. Something that added a little thickness to it so it didnt feel so fragile in my hands.

The poly-carbonate is very smooth.. Now this can be a Pro or Con to some. One thing i notice is they added these textured lines going all across the back..rather then having a all smooth back surface. The textured lines are raised a little to add a little grip when holding the phone. The raised lines are still the same smooth poly-carbonate so it slips in and out of pockets very smooth.

My cheap Amazon case i bought to hold me over till the Otterbox arrived has a matte finish and feel to it, which grips better and is not as smooth as the Otterbox but the matte would attract all types of things. With the raised textured lines on the Otterbox is grips in the hand well. Not as well as the matte finish case i had but as i said, It can be a Pro or Con to some.

Looks nice. Still using my official GNote 2 case from Samsung as my daily case. I'm waiting for the Defender so that I can have something a little more beefier when traveling.

Is it hard to take the case on and off? Or is it pretty simple? Would I be able to take it off and replace it within 15 seconds? I might on the rare occasion swap the battery, but just wondering.

Also is it slippy in the hand - the feel looks it. Does it slide around on the table a lot? I know i shouldn't worry because if I dropped the phone on the floor if would be fine, but still :P

Hopefully mine will come asap! Hope it looks good on the titanium grey!

Very nice case, & nice review ...
... congrats on getting your hands on one for your Note2 (in black) ...

... just waiting on Otterbox to get some more of the black in stock ...

I'm I asking too much for you to show all the parts included with this case individually laid out:D

Really considering the otterbox cases but I wish the case itself had a built in kickstand. Don't care for the clip having a kickstand.

I already ordered 3 black ones from ebay. I also ordered 3 Spigen Ultra Oleophobic Screen Protectors. So the GN2s that I have coming should be well covered and protected.

I'm really worried at how fragile it really is (especially the glass front). It seems to easily crack if dropped from a small height. At least with the screen protector and cover on, it should protect that much more better. Or at least I hope it will.

Can't wait 'til everything comes in. :D

Just received a notification e-mail from Otterbox ...
... the Galaxy Note 2 Commuter Case in BLACK is "back in stock" ...

Less 1 of course ...

I just received my Otterbox Commuter case in BLACK for the Galaxy Note2 ... :D

So, removed the Seidio Active case, & popped on the Commuter case ...
... & immediately thought "Oh Yeah" !!!

1) better outer case - hands down
2) hard case also covers both the top & bottom of the phone
3) better rubber liner - structured better, with port covers
4) less exposed rubber liner on the sides (slips into your pocket without grabbing)
5) a definite more solid & sturdier feel, & overall better design, to the Commuter case

Nice job Otterbox !!!

... just a few thoughts on what I'm looking for from a protective case ...

... "to each his own" ...

I'm expecting mine tomorrow.
Mine will have the built in screen protector though.

I'm not letting my N2 leave my home until it's covered. =3
