Root Just rooted...now what?

Hey all.
I just rooted my HTC Evo. Very simple process. I have done everything correct. When trying to download roms directly from the rom manager app. I get a corrupt download error on all of them. Is this due to having the free version? Also where is the best place to get roms? I know they all do different things. What are the most popular ones and most stable?

The bast thing to do is to download them to your pc and put them on the root of your sdcard here is a great place to look for roms, they come in all shapes and sizes:

Just installed the Ava9 rom for Evo. I did a back up of my previous rom. How do i get my contacts and text messages and etc. back?

Once you log into ur Google account you should be able to get ur contacts back.

yeah i got some of it back. I did reinstall the app called Miq which does daily back ups and syncs of everything but apps.

what is the easiest way to prevent this again?

Prevent what?Every time u change a ROM it will require a full wipe(meaning all ur apps and data will be gone) unless is an update of your previous ROM and no wipe is required.

Other than that all you can do is TB to backup all ur apps and data and restore after u flash.Some people use My Backup to.

Use Titianium Backup Titanium Backup ? root - Android app on AppBrain before you flash a new ROM.
