K9 .doc attachments

Hey guys,

I've just moved from years of iPhone use to the Galaxy S2, so this is all a bit new to me.

I'm using K9 mail to get push email from my Apple MobileMe account (use it rather than GMail as I have an iMac and iPad also).

I get regular work schedules sent out as .doc attachments. When I try to open the attachment itself in K9, it says "This document cannot be opened". I can hit Save and it saves onto the SD, from where it can be opened no problems (using Polaris) If I use the regular Samsung email client, it opens no problems straight from the email.

Is there anything I can do to get K9 to open it?

I have the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy S2... so it may be a problem with Android 2.3 or with this kind of phone.
I have updated K9 to version 3.792 but that did not solve the issue.

Please, help.

It seem that the problem is with Polaris Office, that comes with the Galaxy 2, not integrating with K9.

I have been able to open attachments after installing Documents to Go, ThinkFree Office or OfficeSuite. All of them can open the attachments from within K9, whereas Polaris cannot.

This is funny, because the same attachments can be opened with Polaris from Gmail.

So until this issue is fixed by K9 or Polaris, you can install any of the other applications, (I tried the free version). OfficeSuite appears to the fastest at opening attachments, and also open pdf files. I appears that ThinkFree Office does not open pdf files.
