K9 email: adding new contacts

When I started using k9, I imported stuff from the root gmail app on my Samsung tablet. But now I can't see how to add new contacts as they become available. I can't see how to add by entering manually, let alone by simply asking to enter one from incoming or outgoing emails.

Well, you just add them to the contacts app on your phone and they will show up in K9.

Just add them....? It may be easy if you know how (I will have a look).

So you are saying that K9 has no way to add contacts internally, either auto or manual? It cannot send stuff to the contacts app?
