Help K9 Mail and Google 2-Step Authorization

SG2Tiger

Lurker
Apologies if this has been asked, but I couldn't find any concrete answers on Google.

I just decided to set up Google's 2-step verification, and I'm aware that for external applications and the like, you need to use app-specific passwords. I set one up for K9 mail and sent myself a test e-mail, from myself to myself (I did this from my computer), to see if it worked - it did, as the mail was immediately received on my phone. So I went about my business.

A few hours later, I had to send an e-mail from K9, and discovered that the password apparently didn't work. I assumed I just needed to set the password under all the K9 settings, for incoming and outgoing, instead of just to sign in. I did this...but it's still telling me that it is failing to send the messages from my outbox, even after I've input the app-specific password. I don't really understand, since incoming mail seems to work just fine...am I missing something here? Any help would be appreciated, as I'd rather disable the 2-step verification than to not be able to use email unless I'm at my computer - that would serve me no purpose.

I know this is old, but all one need do is go to https://accounts.google.com and setup an application-specific password. Then go into your k9 app/client and enter said password in both incoming and outgoing server settings. Et voila! You're all fixed up. Now download APG and become super secure ;)

Regards,
Rob
