Help K9 mail - synching?

Out of frustration with the stock email app w/hotmail I sought out other options via available apps. K9 mail was highly recommended and so far it seems to be an option except for the fact I can't seem to get it to synch/poll for new mail. And I don't see any settings in K9 mail to tell it how often to sync/poll for new mail.

Anyone have a bit of insight on how to resolve?
Anyone have a email app rec that works great with hotmail?

Thanks mlthurs... we must have been posting at the same time.
Gave up and went to Droid-Mail instead. Works like a charm. So far I'm happy and it saves me a trip to the VZW retail store (their tech support is rather worthless IMO).
