Am on to my second samsung galaxy and neither phone is holding a charge for very long

Is your phone defective? Or is your battery defective? Or are you using your phone like a Laptop? Or do you have Apps that are robbing your battery?

It could be a number of things, but you should get a replacement if you are having problems such as it not holding the charge for a normal amount of time.

Hi there. Welcome to Android Forums. :)

I had a similar issue with my Samsung Galaxy S3 and after installing an app called 'Wakelock Detector' I found that I had a rogue app draining all my battery life by refusing to let the phone go to sleep.

9 times out of 10 I think you'll find it is a rogue app causing such battery drain, especially if you have had it on two similar phones as the chances are you would have downloaded the same apps on both (or almost the same anyway).

It doesn't hurt trying a different battery though if you can, just in case you have a faulty battery.

You did not mention which Galaxy model you own specifically but they tend to vary greatly. Using 4G will accelerate battery usage, as will high energy apps especially anything that streams content and/or keeps the screen on for long periods of time.

Extended batteries can help, lowering screen brightness and keep an eye on your network coverage. Many people who have found themselves in "fringe" areas, complain the most about this issue as the phone is constantly searching for signal. Hope this helps, if not please consider joining the forums and asking more finite questions to solve your issue. Cheers! :)
