Keep Apps Running

Deji

Is there any app that can manage other apps to keep them running? I often switch between apps, only to find that when i gotl back to the app i was originally working in it starts again from scratch, losing whatever i was doing in it. Not always, but often. Also theres some apps i want constantly running in the background so i get alerts from them immediately. My phone has this annoying habbit of assuming im done with an app if i dont use it in 5 minutes or something... Kinda annoying.

Im using a Sony Ericsson XPERIA. Id check the model but the browser will probably lose this post if i minimise the app, hence why i want an app to keep apps running! Android version is 1.2 i think. The latest version my crappy phone supports.

Help is appreciated!

Android normally will run apps in the background or suspend ('cache') apps keeping them 'in place' so to speak, with a couple of exceptions:

When an app is not coded to work that way, or...

When other processes require enough system resources the app must be stopped to free up CPU cycles and/or a cached app must be unloaded to free RAM.

I don't know of any app that can change these hard-coded behaviors. I would think trying to would cause problems.

Firefox is very good at keeping webpages open, even multiple tabs, if you have the RAM for it. I can minimize it and even after running several other apps or a day or two everything's still open.

If your device is rooted, you can install Super Manager and "star" the apps you want to keep from getting killed.
