Keep phone awake with app or audio cable?

When I have an audio cable plugged into my phone (Nexus 4) I'd like it to stay awake. Does anyone know of a hack or app that takes care of this? A setting like "Keep phone awake while external audio output" would be nice to have?

The other alternative would be if there is an app similar to the Caffeine app for Macs?

Any ideas?
 
An automation app like Tasker or Automateit can do this.

In Automateit speak: The trigger would be "Headset plug State and action would be "Set screen action"

Automateit is free and Tasker is paid. Both in Play store.
 
Just when I plugin the audio jack. I have installed and created a rule in Automateit but it failed first test. Will try tweaking the rule.

Not sure why it won't work? I did this:

Trigger: Headset is Plugged
Action: Set screen timeout to Never

It's not working? Anyone know why?
 
Does "Plug In Launcher" have an option for this? I have my screen timeout set to a half an hour so it's rarely a problem for me.

It looks like you got it right to me.

In the trigger do you have the details set to "when plugged in" or whatever it would say? Basically, you would be able to choose between plugged and unplugged.

The only other thing I might suggest is reboot the phone maybe to see if that fixes it.
 
I tried rebooting the phone to no avail. I've contacted the developer because it seems that the app is not doing what it should. Hopefully they can update the Automateit app because it seems like a really cool app at a reasonable price.
 
Looks like the response from Automateit explains why it's not working:

Hi

Since 4.2.1 update there is a problem with screen timeout = never.
We hope that we will have fix for this.
